Area Information and Attractions
Our location in South Carver makes the campground a perfect place to call home during your families vacation to the South Coast. Within an hour's drive from Shady Acres your family will be able to see many of the sights from Boston to Providence, and all points in between.
We may be a bit biased, but we believe the best attractions are right here in our own backyard. Carver is, of course, home to those world famous Massachusetts Cranberries. Our sandy soil and geographic conditions are just what the Cranberry needs to grow, and oh has that little berry grown!
During the time of WWII, no other location on the planet grew more cranberries than did Carver, Mass. As technique and agriculture developed through the following decades, more locations and businesses around the world have entered the Cranberry market. But to this day, one would be hard pressed to find any community who knows the Cranberry as does Carver, Massachusetts. Although harvest is in the fall, many bogs offer year round tours and gift shops that are open to the public. Please follow the links below for more information.
Additional attractions in the Carver area include Beautiful Myles Standish State Forest, the Plimouth Plantation, and Edaville Railroad. Beyond the Carver area, the attractions of Boston, Plymouth, Cape Cod, New Bedford, and Providence are endless. We have linked below just a tiny selection of many attractions throughout the area. As always please feel free to contact the office about any questions you may have.
